CATAN: New Energies

CATAN: New Energies puts a 21st-century spin on the classic island-settling game. As you build roads, settlements, and cities across Catan, you'll also face a new choice: invest in clean renewable power or lean on cheaper, more available fossil fuels. Each path offers its own advantages, but leaning too hard on fossil fuels gradually degrades the island itself, changing the board and the way the game plays out. It's the familiar trading-and-building Catan experience, now layered with a resource-management dilemma about growth versus sustainability. Components are made with eco-friendly materials — sustainably sourced wood and paper, with no plastic — and the board is illustrated by acclaimed designer Ian O'Toole.
